All I Wanna Do Tour Review

By  |

The day started off sleeting in Chicago, IL at Reggie’s Rock Club, about 100 concert goers were waiting outside in a line around the block for the doors to open for the All I Wanna Do Tour.  Blackbear just joined the tour for the first night and put on quite a performance.  The first couple songs we saw he brought energy and vocals that produced a double threat.  As soon as the second song finished I went to check out his other music on my phone and saved the links for later.

After seeing this next act at 2013 Vans Warped Tour, I expected this happy, pure energy.  I wasn’t disappointed, I was surprised that the entire crowd knew most of Mod Sun’s songs and sang/rapped along with him.  Mod Sun brings a performance unlike any other artist I’ve seen, the crowd feeds off of it making everyone smile by the end of his set.  I’m finding it hard to put into words how he brightens up the venue, you’ll have to experience to believe it.

We then went to the bus to do our interview with Travis. Our first interview with him, was quite scary as girls were climbing fences to try and get to him.  It was great to get one on one time with him and talk about his new music and life on the road.  It was interesting to see how he categorized his music since he sings and raps, as well as having punk, hip hop, and pop influences.  I was glad he had a sense of humor, even quoting Zoolander during our chat which made the entire crew burst into hysterical laughter.

His set was high energy with everyone trying to reach out and hold his hand.  One of my favorite moments was when he sang his hit Diemonds about his great-grandmother.  It was really mindblowing to see T. Mills make actual conversation with his audience, after the first song he complimented one of his fan’s outfits that “worked perfectly”.  By the end of the night the crowd was pumped up making the upstairs bar area shake.  To top off the perfect show Travis invited some of the fans on stage to sing the last two songs.  It was really nice to see everyone up on stage taking pictures and freaking out. Post-show all of the acts met with fans which is a great sight to see.
