Alexz Johnson Schuba’s Review

I walked inside of Schuba’s greeted by Alexz’s lovely tour manager and guided downstairs to the dressing room.  Alexz smiled as she greeted me and I told her how I’ve been listening to her music since her Instant Star days (9 years.)  She asked about the website and Chicago.  I handed her brownies since one of the things on her kickstarter was if you can’t donate send me baked goods, just kidding.   She laughed at that and said she wasn’t serious but then proceeded to eat a couple brownies.  We sat down and started the interview, she’s so insightful on music and song writing it was great to talk to her and find out about her music. After the interview she asked if we were staying for the show and said goodbye.

Alexz took the stage and opened with Weight  to screams and delights of fans.  One fan even yelled that  she came from Vancouver!  Alexz had her glass of wine and really brought pure and raw vocals that were mind blowing.  She’s one of those artists you’re astounded by when you heard her record then when you hear her live she’s even better, if it’s possible.  She played a new song Nothing On Me, the feedback from the fans was excitement.   She ended her set with Mary and Don’t Stop.  I would recommend at least checking Alexz out if you haven’t already and to check out her tour, coming to a city near you!
