Fiona Apple’s “SHAMEIKA” Takes The Win

“Shameika” appears on Fiona Apple’s fifth studio album, Fetch the Bolt Cutters. “Shameika”is named after a girl who attended middle school with Apple, who pushed Apple to see beyond the group of popular girls who had rejected her. “Shameika came up, and she was like, ‘Why are you trying to sit with those girls? You have potential.'”

The 2021 Grammy Awards aired live on CBS and Paramount+ on March 14, two months after the original show’s air date. The Recording Academy chose to delay the ceremony due to the pandemic. The show itself took place at the Staples Center and surrounding buildings in Los Angeles, California.
